When you visit them or come home from work, you notice the pill bottles are still full but she says she takes them everyday.

She calls you in the middle of the night, several times but she doesn't remember calling or why.

She cannot get in the bathtub by herself or bathe and dress on her own

She seems preoccupied with events which happened months or years ago but can’t remember if she ate anything at all today.

Now mom’s in the hospital, confused, weak and you can’t leave her alone.

When he walks now he’s very unsteady, holding on to the wall or furniture, you’re afraid he’s going to fall again and there’s no one there to help him.

He’s become a shut in in his own home. His friends are gone,  he can’t drive to the grocery store, doctor visits, the drug store, or church…

And you… are all they have.
